　友人などの親しい間柄で使われる表現で、「Hey」「Hi」「Hello」の代わりの挨拶。「How are you?」と同じで、答えを期待して質問をしているわけではないので、答えるときは、「Not much」「Nothing much」と軽く答えることが多い。

他に、困っているような様子の友達に「どうしたの？」と質問する場合にもこの表現が使われる。この場合は「What’s the matter?」と同じ意味。

時間がかかる

テストが終わるまで、約50分かかります。

　意味：「It takes time to ～」で、「～をするのに時間がかかる」という意味です。「time」に具体的な時間を入れることもできます。

　英語辞典：
“If you say that something will take time, you mean that it will take a long time.”
「何かについて take time と言えば、それをするには長い時間がかかるという意味になります。」

　ちなみに「Take your time.」と言えば、「ごゆっくりどうぞ。」（急がなくていいですよ。）という意味です。
